We Need YOUR HELP!
North Carolina Cooperative Extension Montgomery County and Communities In Schools Montgomery County are recruiting volunteers to assist us with a fun and interactive financial literacy program that will be held at East Middle School on Tuesday, November 18, 2025. Volunteers will need to be available from 8 a.m. until shortly before lunch. Light refreshments will be provided for volunteers, courtesy of Communities In Schools Montgomery County.
During the event, youth will be given the opportunity to make lifestyle and budget choices similar to those made by 27 year old adults. Youth will be assigned a career and family size and will then be challenged to visit 15 different booths (ranging from Food, to Transportation, to Housing, etc) with the goal of having money left at the end of the month!
Volunteers will be assigned to one of the 15 booths, where they will help youth make decisions about spending choices in a designated area. Our goal is for each booth to have at least two volunteers. All materials will be provided prior to and at the day of the simulation.
