Samples submitted between April and Nov. 2025 are analyzed for free by NCDA&CS. During PEAK time, Nov. 2025 - March 2026, sample analysis is $5 each and turnaround time should be expected to be 2 months or more. Submit between April and before December for faster and free analysis!

Supplies and tools needed for soil sampling can be picked up from N.C. Cooperative Extension Montgomery County, 1001 N. Main St., Troy. We supply sample boxes and forms, and loan out soil probes. We accept NC soil only from home lawn and garden sites, pastures, food and forest plots, commercial and heavy metal sites. If you need technical assistance sampling or interpreting results, Extension can help. Our County Agents would be happy to assist and advise you.
