'Winblo' and other cultivar history
The 2025 Peach season is here, bringing the sweet, juicy flavor of summer to North Carolina. While many enjoy this classic treat, few realize our state grows a significant share of peaches. Candor is the NC Peach Capitol and hosts the Peach Festival annually in July.
Between 2017 and 2022, both the number of peach farms and total acreage grew across NC. According to the 2022 Census of Agriculture, North Carolina is home to 356 peach farms covering 1,273 acres.
Grab a bushel from a local roadside stand below, kick back, and enjoy some fun facts about NC’s homegrown peaches. Want to be included? Please contact owen_washam@ncsu.edu with your information.
