Six members of the Montgomery County 4-H Livestock Club traveled to Raleigh on Friday, October 13th to show the turkeys that they had been caring for since June. The NC State Fair Youth Market Turkey Show had over 300 competitors registered this year and the competition was tough. Out of all the birds being shown, Montgomery County did well and brought home two 9th place finishes, one 10th, an 11th, a 12th place and one 14th place. Showmen this year were Elijah Farlow, Joel Farlow, Ethan Helms, Hunter Helms, Caroline Johnson and Bryson Johnson. These young people put a lot of hard work and dedication into raising their turkeys for this show. We appreciate how well they represented Montgomery County at the fair.
